We literally needed our key cards solely to access our room. After days of just showing up for our dinner reservation and simply leaving when we were done, I nearly forgot my purse in the safe when it was time to leave.
It was nice. So about that premium alcohol we already mentioned. Sandals boasts up to 12 bars at every resort and there was definitely no shortage of premium top shelf liquor on hand. All rooms are also stocked with an included mini bar and it is restocked daily. You can also call to have the mini bar restocked if you need it between the daily restocking. I wanted to take my drink on to the beach for a photo op.
No problem! Each day at lunch and dinner, a different specialty cocktail was offered. We tried a lot, you know in the name of research and all, and everything was delicious. There was definitely no skimping on the the alcohol in any drink to make up for the alcohol being all-inclusive. So what kinds of top shelf liquor are included?
We were definitely not strapped for variety and the food was good at all of the restaurants we tried. We were also impressed that some local favorites, like conch fritters, featured on the menu of at least one of the restaurants. Both Sandals Resorts have an a la carte option for breakfast, a buffet style breakfast and room service. Always a sleep-until-the-last-possible-second kind of gal, the buffet was great for when we had an excursion and wanted to grab something quickly.
Plus, eggs benedict are always my breakfast indulgence and they were on the menu at the a la carte restaurant at both properties.
There were a variety of casual options where you could wander in with a beach cover-up and enjoy lunch. Everything from pub style food to pizza is available. Of course, all day room service or club sandwiches in the Club Level lounge are also available.
Even at dinner there were a variety of restaurants from more casual pub style dining to upscale restaurants with a dress code. We had everything from French cuisine to teppanyaki during our stay.
Sandals Royal Bahamian is located a short drive or bus ride from downtown Nassau , where you have a pick of restaurants. At both Sandals Resorts , we stayed in Club Sandals level rooms that were decorated similarly in British Colonial style. I like the bathroom at Sandals Emerald Bay more since it had a separate tub and walk-in shower, and double sinks in the vanity.
I did find the bathroom lighting a bit dim at Sandals Emerald Bay, but the make-up mirror was lit so that helped. Both included amenity kits from the Red Lane Spa, a safe and outlets for both volt North American and volt European plugs. I always appreciate that since as an expat, our electronics are both voltages.
In-room amenities include the all-inclusive mini bar stocked with top shelf liquor, a bottle of Champagne, juices, water and sodas. There is also an in-room coffee maker and a kettle with tea, coffee, sugar and creamer stocked. All day housekeeping and all day room service are inclusive. The Club Sandals lounge also offers a variety of board games and books you can borrow and Kindles that can be used in the lounge. Free wifi is available throughout the entire property.
For the land lubbers there is a lengthy list of sports like table tennis, beach volleyball, shuffleboard, a fitness center, and at Sandals Emerald Bay even the golf course is included. But we came for fun in the sun and there is plenty of that too. Of course, there are hot tubs and the main pools have a swim-up bar. Activities like pool volleyball tournaments take place throughout each day. The beach is far nicer at Sandals Emerald Bay with its 1-mile long white sand beach secluded in a half-moon bay.
You can take part in all the water activities like sailing or stand-up paddle boarding, go snorkeling in the crystal clear waters or just find your own semi-private slice of paradise somewhere on the beach. What Sandals Royal Bahamian lacks with its location on Delaport Bay , it makes up for with its included off-shore island.
A boat shuttle takes guests the five minutes out to the off-shore island once per hour. The island has a very nice beach on both the front and back side of the island and the back side has a reef perfect for snorkeling on.
The off-shore island also has a pool with swim-up bar, a restaurant, bar and plenty of places to steal away. You can even book your Red Lane spa treatments to be on the off-shore island.
And all the all-inclusive alcohol means you never know just how out of tune you really are. You can come and go as you please. There is typically a guard booth at the main entrance and you just give your name and room number to re-enter the property. When our swimming pigs tour nearly fell through, we did inquire with Island Routes the night before we wanted to go and nothing was available.
If you choose to use Island Routes, we recommend you book in advance either before you arrive or immediately upon arrival. We personally found the tours available through Islands Routes a tad on the expensive side, so we decided to book a variety of tours through Viator. Enjoy reading our tips and recommendations. That wasn't the end of the world, we had a good time while we were there. The ER later showed she tested positive for Salmonella. Sandals requested the documents, only to say it couldn't have been from their resort. What a joke! A manager was supposed to have reached out to us multiple times, but did not. They even pretended to call, so I requested a voicemail - nothing. I'm filing a lawsuit. Me and my husband booked our honeymoon to Sandals Grenada, 2 weeks before our honeymoon, Sandals Grenada emailed us and said that they will no be letting us into the country due to COVID They have not helped us in any way, shape or form to help us navigate through this major inconvenience.
Every time we called Sandals, the people were outright nasty and disrespectful to us. The grief Sandals gave us has tainted our honeymoon and now we are unable to go on a honeymoon. We spent the weeks after our wedding running in circles between Expedia and Sandals.
The worst customer service, this is being brought to the attention of the Better Business Bureau. My husband and I have spent a good price for this long overdue vacation, for us to arrive to a room without air conditioning. We went to the front desk and instead of them changing our room we waited for hours so that they could keep sending engineers to review the unit. After hours of waiting we spoke to a manager on property.
We suggested our room be changed. It was never suggested prior to us. Once we were moved our luggage was lost! We was at this resort for 7 days. Housekeeping came 3 days.
The three days they came was because we had to take several trips to the front desk to complain. The other days we had to ask them to send us wash cloths up and we even had to fix our own bed! One night after housekeeping did come we had grit and hair in the sheets, another night that the front desk brought linen up for us to fix the bed! We was promised a night supervisor would call us about the mini concerns that we had and that call never happened either!
My next trip will not be With Sandals. Just returned from Sandals Halcyon this past week and it was definitely the worst Sandals I've been to.
I've been to 8 different facilities and by far this is very subpar resort. From the day we got there I felt like was in a standard hotel. Don't get me wrong. The people were very friendly and hardworking but really understaffed. If you like to get off the resort for a day or two we suggest renting a car and exploring the island.
Here are some of our favorite things to do in Barbados. The resort is located on the best beach in Nassau, so if sun, sand, and surf are your things, this is one of the best Sandals resorts to visit. Alternatively, enjoy a relaxing massage at the spa. There are also eight bars to choose from and one is a British pub.
Sandals South Coast — This wonderful resort is located in Whitehouse, Jamaica, and if you adore sea and surf, this is the place for you. You can sip a cocktail in the bar that also overlooks the water, and you can even get married in a wedding chapel that sits over the waves!

These gentle giants will welcome you at the boat and are so much fun to feed and swim with. The staff is so much fun. They enjoy looking after their guests and will make sure that your experience is exceptional. Make it a point to visit these restaurants as their some of the best in the Sandals portfolio. The mile long beach is stunning, private and relaxing. Water sports are available to all of the guests and includes kayaking, hobbie cats, windsurfing, snorkeling tours and scuba diving.
The diving here is not as good as other parts of the Caribbean as there tends to be a lot less coral and more sand but it is a fun activity and recommended for those who enjoy a recreational dive. The pools are beautiful and the main pool features a swim up bar with chairs. Access to the Greg Norman golf course is just a short drive away and features some amazing views off the back nine.
The resort is fairly expansive. As such there are many areas to explore and enjoy. The fire pits are a nice bonus and fun to enjoy in the evening with a cocktail. The resort and grounds are impeccable. Most of the rooms include a peak or full view of the ocean. Do you want something beach front? Let us know! The main pool is not heated so in the winter months the water can be chilly.
It can be hard to get reservations at the French and Italian Restaurants so it is recommended to take book those upon arrival. This is not a very rowdy resort. The resort is secluded on a small Bahamian island so there are very limited activities available off resort. There are only 4 restaurants at the resort but there is always something for everyone and the menus rotate. If you go in the winter, the water will likely be chilly and not as swimmable as the summer months.

The restaurants are great and there is something for everyone. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet and dinner at the Italian restaurant is not one to miss. The staff are genuinely friendly and will go out of their way to put a smile on your face. The rooms in all of the buildings are spacious, comfortable and well appointed.
There are two large pools. One pool is the active pool with a lot of music and lots of activities. The other pool on the Balmoral side is quiet and great for relaxing. The beach is not large but it is beautiful and very swimmable. This island has an abundance of private areas to relax and is not over crowded.
