Wouldnt the Fumiaki that sacrificed still havet to exist to protect Maya from Mikaze? Bunmei from a destroyed future existed because of a parallel universe. However parallel universes exist on the same time line.
Bunmei from a destroyed future is not the same as Bunmei from a saved future. Bunmei from a destroyed future would have been trapped and incapable of returning to the future of his existence because it would not longer be the same universe he existed in. This is why when Junichirou came out of his bunker into the changed future his memory and environment changed to the current existing parallel universe. The spoon thing at the end was hilariously fitting. Though Maya stealing the shota from his mother and marrying him was probably the best part.
I enjoyed this show a lot. I really wanted to see their future selves though. Lol at Maya being a cougar. The ending was a really charming way to close things up. Im going to miss Maya and them white heels. The question then becomes, what happens to the future YOU came from. Does it continue from where you left or does it get re-written? Does time by the necessity of time travel have to split at moment at which a person regresses in time to change it?
This, however, would mean that they exist outside the boundaries of time…. They, simply, would not exist in that state. Its a paradox plot hole, really. Dang, I hate time paradoxes. Yeah, where did 6 come from? Could some one explain this symbolism of some sort!? Rest in piece, Fumiaki the Brave… all is forgiven. Victory needs no ecplanation, defeat allows none. Aaaaargh Maya — you waited how many years for the little Bunmei to grow up??? Some serious shotacon…. They mess with the occult together and we can watch their romance blossom!
Akari was it? So here come the aliens. Skip a bit and now we have the magical spoon. Most likely one of those O-parts that we had heard about in earlier episodes. His is, in this case, real. Which is true. But even if the rift closed, the aliens that had already come out would still be roaming around. The only way I can make sense of this is to say Uchiha became his own timeline when he went back in time… And then for some strange reason this time he stopped being a wuss.
This law takes first and foremost precedence over every other law. First off, no one knows if that Fumaki she mentioned over the phone is the kid. Im a lil confused on that part…. Neither of them could have logically existed in any timeline due to the fact that without future Fumiaki, the aliens could never have invaded but without the aliens, Fumiaki would have never been sent back. The two simply cancel each other out in the end and then time just works itself out, with the time force being absorbed back into a working timeline after they abandon their bunker which is probably the last part of the paradox to resolve itself.
The only problem with ruling out their existences completely is that Maya and various others have memories of Fumiaki and the brief alien invasion. The destruction around Waldstein Academy was also evidence that the aliens were there. I think we can all agree that trying to make sense of a paradox is fruitless. All we can do is recognize that there is one. I did enjoy the series and will remember it for its good mix of action and some laughs.
Hikasa-san did a wonderful job once again in Seikimatsu. This is really bittersweet. In the end, Maya still live with the memory of that Fumiaki, exemplified by the dish she serve the family, curry rice and eaten with a spoon. After watching this episode, I was wondering how old Fumiaki really was. Luckily, I found it by watching a promo video at the official website the ages were shown in parentheses.
According to the promo, Maya is 17 and Fumiaki is 23, so that means Bunmei is 10 in Thanks for clearing that up. I hope to see more from Anime no Chikara soon, adaptions seem to be the only thing that creates anime, in the end I just get the feeling that reading the manga would be the complete enjoyment of a series.
Anime no Chikara is a class act. My 3 of the season. After all the talk, I decided to see what it was all about. Or better yet, send a female psychic back time in stead, lord knows your average female characters in anime are a thousand times more competent than your above average male characters. This show really pulled through and finished with an amazing ending. I was at the point of tears when the credits rolled. Notify me of new posts via email. Skip to content. Patience, Maya, patience.

In their various investigations, the two are met with meddling forces, false leads, and emotional entanglements.
Unfortunately, these events are merely randomly-inserted distractions that divert focus away from the core plot; they add little to meaningful character development or plot progression. Further, the attempts to tie these events back to the core story are too little, too late—a mere few minutes of passing mentions of past subplots after those episodes have long fallen out of memory.
This is exacerbated by the poor pacing. The plot twists and revelations, while poignant, lack proper set up and feel rushed mostly.
For a story so convoluted—time travel is never straight-forward—Occult Academy really needs a bit more properly paced, well positioned exposition. Without it, the main plot feels as if it were erratically thrown together and not really all that important. Indeed, if there is one thing most extraordinarily impressive about Occult Academy, it is that it manages to make something as world shattering as an apocalypse feel insignificant and forgettable.
That most of the side characters are unimaginative makes the story even less relevant to the audience. Perhaps the poor pacing and the unimportant early episode are to blame. And, while more important side characters are developed with more success, it only happens near the end of the series long after the story has begun in earnest.
The hurried development makes the growth and changes of the characters a bit hard to digest, particularly with Mikaze, a relatively forgettable character, who would later get a surprisingly large role. Luckily, the lead roles are colorful. Fumiaki, having had a more smooth transition from coward to hero, suffers less from development issues. More impressively, the even more compelling Maya is enough to save the series from its subpar cast alone.
She has an incredibly memorable personality. Her drive and her attitude give the anime the bite it craves. Moreover, she is abrasive, yet likable, and she is able to easily command our total attention—I love harsh girls! Furthermore, Her father-issues and the resolution of that tense relationship not only makes Maya a very three-dimensional character, but ties Maya to the story. She is our strongest reason to worry about the end of her world, and continue watching until the end.
Though Occult Academy may feel somewhat trivial and boring early on, and the climax feel rushed into, the series finishes fairly strongly. The ending ties up loose ends, avoids plot holes, and yet still leaves enough room for us to ponder over time continuum and the concepts of self-fulfilling prophecies.
These are not easy tasks for time-travel stories. Moreover, Occult Academy details how Maya and Fumiaki work out their inner issues with their vulnerabilities, childhoods, and parents. That is perhaps even more poignant than saving the world. For all the weaknesses in the flow and the cast, the anime is wonderfully enjoyable.
Most importantly, the story tickles our fancy despite some undeniable flaws in execution. In that sense, Occult Academy is just like most paranormal studies. I liked the character designs of Occult Academy. Very, very nice. Anyway, Mikaze annoyed me too for being so inconsequential at first, and so jarringly important later.
The flow just feels wrong. I actually thought the ending is fairly strong. I enjoyed it. There were good and bad parts. Nostalgia, paranormal, interesting beginning, solid ending, and Maya were good. But the plot is so bad and the pacing terrible. The middle stretch were excruciating as well. I guess in the end, the good outweighs the bad by just a bit, so still a slight recommendation if you have time.
Looks like we all are a little intrigued about how the world would end. It always keeps us guessing to the point that we would have to brace ourselves and keep everyone together when it happens.
I agree with that. In fact, I find it all quite silly—entertaining, but silly. To get too caught up in that is… not so good. We should just do the best we can with the things we know or can know and control.
The main reason I gave this show a high rating back then was for the nostalgic value, oh and Maya of course. Both the nostalgia and Maya are huge incentives for watching Occult Academy, but there were flaws. Understandable rating Yi-san as far as quality goes but my ratings are based on personal entertainment value rather than critic appraisal.
Believe me, most of the shows I give high ratins to barely qualify as Academy Award material, just like my most recent review. I still think Twitter is a waste of time. With that said, I probably just have a more spread out system, preferring to have 5 be the average mediocre, not good but not bad , whereas I think many tend to have 7 as the average, thereby making a lot of the lower numbers really quite irrelevant. And Twitter does provide a very easy medium to discuss things with people on a wide range of topics, I think.
I wrote my post on magic k right after you posted this. Also, did it bother you at all that Maya wore the same dress in different sizes from childhood to adulthood? We do both have conspiracies and cyberpunk on our minds, I think. As for Occult Academy, the anime is just timed wrongly I suppose. She cannot have worn that same look for 10 years, as pretty as that look may be.
I can see how it could. I went until the end just bc of Hanazawa and Youko Hikasa. The first few episodes were really fresh in that it is about the occult and it was fairly funny.
But then it gets very tedious in the middle. Luckily, the ending is fairly solid, pulling my overall impression to just slightly above average. I want to catch up with some anime before that though. Yuruyuri is so fast… much faster than what really happened in the manga.
Btw, Morita-san ep 1 is out too, Length: 2min 36sec. That I agree with. The build up to the climax is really forced indeed. But the actual ending I found to be quite… epic. This is a fairly niche series. Morita-san is only 2 minutes? Anyways, Occult Academy started off strong, but quickly got boring. Really, the ending was the only thing that saved it, and wow was that an epic ending or what?
Also agreed. Starts strong, finishes strong, but gosh, those middle filler-ish episodes are so unbearably boring. But yes, ending is very epic, and Fumiaki as a character really grows and succeeds into someone we root for and care about.
Occult was fun and interesting until Mikaze switched and was evil! Then again I remember I always thought she was bad news from the start, the whole time travel thing was cool and ending was great!
I thought the pictures were nice too, although Occult Academy images were kind of hard to find compared to, say, K-On! I had a problem with Mikaze as well, but for slightly different reasons. She comes out of nowhere and has very little impact or importance for much of the series.
Then, with only a few episodes left, she all of a sudden becomes the biggest villain, which she has not been set up to be. That threw me off in a bad way. You are commenting using your Twitter account.

Thoughts: With what was covered in the previous episode this episode came across as something extra to wrap up a few last things with the future still being in ruins as something to allow this.
